
Defense Ministry orders high-level probe into accidental firing of missile that landed in Pakistan

The Ministry of Defense has ordered a probe into the accidental firing of a missile due to a technical malfunction. The missile had landed in Pakistan, the ministry said in a statement.
India has taken a serious note of the accidental firing of a missile during routine maintenance due t a technical malfunction, an official statement said.
“The Government of India has taken a serious view and ordered a high-level Court of Enquiry,” it said.
The note said that the missile had landed in an area of Pakistan. “While the incident is deeply regrettable, it is also a matter of relief that there has been no loss of life due to the accident,” it added.
Pakistan had today summoned India's Charge d’Affaires in Islamabad and conveyed its strong protest over the alleged unprovoked violation of its airspace by an Indian-origin "super-sonic flying object" and sought a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident that could have resulted in a serious aviation accident, news agency PTI had reported earlier in the day.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
