Defence ministry clears acquisition proposals worth Rs 6,000 crore for armed forces

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved proposals totalling Rs 6,000 crore for capital acquisitions of various equipment for modernisation and operational needs of the armed forces.
To make the defence acquisition simpler and faster, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh-headed Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) meeting on Friday approved proposals for Capital acquisitions of the various equipment required by the Indian Armed Forced at a cost of Rs 6,000 crore, mainly including the procurement of air defence guns and ammunitions made in India. Furthermore, in order to better equip the Armed Forces for operational challenges and to facilitate faster induction of required arms and ammunitions, the DAC extended the timelines for progressing urgent Capital Acquisitions under delegated powers to the Armed Forces until August 31, 2021. “This will allow the Armed Forces to complete their urgent and critical acquisitions,” the defence ministry said.More Related News
