The reservation debate is back in conversation primarily due to a central government announcement for quota in MBBS and postgraduate medical courses for the OBC and Economically Weaker Section categories.

This imagery suits well to explain why despite 27 per cent reservation for the Other Backward Classes (OBC) not every candidate from the category is entitled for quota in jobs and education. The reservation debate is back in conversation primarily due to a central government announcement for quota in MBBS and postgraduate medical courses for the OBC and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories, and 11 MPs from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Congress and the Samajwadi Party raising questions about the “creamy layer” in the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.
