
DCW issues notice to Delhi Police seeking arrest in Assamese girl's trafficking case

The Delhi Commission for Women issued a notice to Delhi Police on the complaint of a 22-year-old girl from Assam who alleged that she was forced into prostitution.
The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) issued a notice to Delhi Police seeking action against alleged traffickers of a girl from Assam. The commission had received a complaint from a 22-year-old girl wherein she alleged that she was forced into prostitution.
DCW Chairperson Swati Maliwal, in the letter, sought the immediate arrest of the alleged accused persons. The commission has also asked the police to thoroughly investigate the matter and rescue the other girls forced into commercial sexual exploitation by the accused.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
