Datta Jayanthi: Hundreds visit cave shrine in Chikkamagaluru

Hundreds of devotees visited Sri Guru Dattatreya Bababudan Swamy Dargah atop Bababudangiri in Chikkamagaluru on Saturday, the final day of three-day Datta Jayanti celebrations conducted by Bajrang Dal and other Hindu activists.
Hundreds of devotees visited Sri Guru Dattatreya Bababudan Swami Dargah atop Bababudangiri in Chikkamagaluru on Saturday, the final day of three-day Datta Jayanti celebrations conducted by Bajrang Dal and other Hindu activists.
Devotees from different parts of Chikkamagaluru and neighbouring districts entered the cave shrine and paid their respects to Datta Paduka. A group of priests conducted rituals on the shrine premises as part of the celebrations.
Leaders of the BJP, Vishwa Hindu Parishat, Bajrang Dal and Srirama Sene participated in the event. They included former Minister C.T. Ravi, and Pramod Mutalik among others. Pramod Mutalik, the founder of Srirama Sene, told the media that the Sene would also take part in Datta Jayanti conducted by Bajrang Dal from now on.
The Chikkamagaluru district administration had made arrangements for the smooth conduct of the celebrations. The administration had deployed policemen on the hill station to avoid any untoward incident. There were restrictions on tourists visiting the place for the last three days.
