A custom-made turban for PM Modi for his visit to Sant Tukaram Maharaj Temple in Maharashtra’s Pune sparked a controversy.
A specially designed turban for Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his visit to Sant Tukaram Maharaj Temple in Maharashtra’s Pune sparked controversy on Tuesday.
Verses of abhang written on the headgear (turban) made for PM Modi had to be changed after the Dehu Sansthan opposed it.
Pune's Murudkar Zendewala shop owner had designed the special headgear for Prime Minister Modi.

The turban was designed according to an order from the Dehu Temple. The lines of abhang written on it were opposed by the Dehu Sansthan as it meant, "Will be good to those whose behaviour is good and those with evil practice will get a befitting answer." These lines were asked to change by Dehu Sansthan President Nitin Maharaj More.
The lines were changed from ‘Bhale tari deu kasechi langoti, nathalachya mathi hanu kathi’ to ‘Vishnumay jag vaishnavancha dharma, bhedabhed bhrama amangal’.
PM Modi is on a day-long visit to Maharashtra. He inaugurated a temple dedicated to the 17th-century saint, Tukaram Maharaj, in Dehu near Pune. He will also unveil a Gallery of Revolutionaries in Mumbai.
