Courts in Uttar Pradesh sentence two people to death in separate cases. One was sentenced in connection with murder of three people over land dispute, while another was sentenced to death for raping a 10-year-old girl.
A court sentenced one person to death, three to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of three people over a land dispute in Bharuch. Three years ago, Satya Prakash, Bhavar Singh, Sundar Singh were shot dead in Bharuch village of Raya while they were sleeping at three different places. They were allegedly murdered over a land dispute. The deceased Satya Prakash's nephew Jeetendra had lodged an FIR against unknown people after the incident. Police then arrested Gajraj, Chandan Singh, Kali Charan, Anil Kumar and Bhagwati Devi from the village.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
