The Congress will launch a campaign, 'Janta ka reporter', to connect with voters through social media in poll-bound states, and train IT volunteers for the same.

The Congress will launch a campaign, 'Janta ka reporter', where it will conduct live chats on the social media platform Facebook to connect with voters in poll-bound states. The campaign will soon begin in Uttar Pradesh."The idea is to involve the masses in a discussion over their local issues to make them aware," said Rohan Gupta, head of the social media cell of Congress.Speaking to India Today on the sidelines of a two-day national executive meeting of the party’s social media cell in Delhi, Gupta said, "To make voters aware of the dominating issues in their constituencies, Congress is training a team of IT volunteers. The campaign has been pegged as ‘Janta Ka Reporter’ and will be kicked off soon in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh."ALSO READ: Rajputs warn about agitation over UP CM's plan to inaugurate statue of 9th century ruler

Close to 100 IT volunteers will participate in the national executive meeting on Friday and Saturday. The meeting is aimed at training the state level social media cell functionaries, who would further train close to two lakh social media volunteers. They would contribute at the booth level in poll-bound states."We will train our volunteers on building narratives to 2024 in local languages as well so as to counter the regional parties," said Gupta, adding, "An important aspect of this training will be on how to counter the BJP in a surrogate manner."
