Telangana Congress leader Venkar Balmoor who celebrated the birthday of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao using a donkey, has been arrested by the police on allegations of donkey theft.
Telangana National Students' Union of India president and Congress leader Venkat Balmoor has been arrested on allegations of donkey theft.
Congress planned a cake-cutting celebration in front of a donkey across the state to celebrate the birthday of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on February 17.
Balmoor was arrested by police on Thursday night from Huzurabad town based on a complaint filed by TRS leaders.
It is learned that the NSUI president celebrated Telangana chief minister's birthday by placing KCR's picture on the donkey's face near Satavahana University and based on which ruling party leaders approached the police.
"For ruining the lives of farmers, students and unemployed youth. For false promises, fake propaganda," Balmoor had tweeted with images of a donkey on KCR's birthday.
A total of six Congress leaders have been booked under relevant sections of the IPC. Balmoor had recently contested the Huzurabad bypolls.
