Congress hates Sikhs, says PM, slams Rahul Gandhi for calling Bittu traitor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hit out at Rahul Gandhi saying that the Congress leader's 'traitor' remark against Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu reflected arrogance at its peak and hatred towards Sikhs.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, launched a scathing attack on the Congress, alleging that the grand old party harbours hatred towards Sikhs and has insulted the community. The Prime Minister was referring to Rahul Gandhi’s “traitor” remark targeting Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu.
On Wednesday, during a face-off just outside Parliament, a heated exchange broke out between the two leaders as Bittu was entering the House. Rahul Gandhi called him a “traitor,” to which the BJP leader responded with a jibe, calling Gandhi a “desh ke dushman” (enemy of the nation).
Gandhi had been attempting to speak after expressing solidarity with the suspended party MPs, most of whom were from Punjab. Spotting the protesting legislators, Bittu remarked, “They (suspended Congress MPs) are sitting here as if they have won a war.” As he began climbing the stairs, Gandhi said, “The thing is, here is a traitor walking right by. Have a look at his face. Look at how he appears.”
Prime Minister Modi, speaking in the Upper House, sharply hit back at Gandhi’s remarks, saying they reflected the Congress leader’s arrogance at its peak. He added that the comments were not merely directed at Bittu, but amounted to an insult to the Sikh community and the Gurus.
"What happened yesterday, the Yuvraj of Congress who has shaatir dimag (crooked mind), called an MP of this House 'traitor'. His arrogance is at its peak. He did not call anyone else who has left the Congress a traitor. But he called the MP a traitor, because he is a Sikh. This was an insult to the Sikhs, an insult to the Gurus. This was an expression of the hatred for Sikhs that is filled in the Congress," PM Modi charged.
