A compound wall of Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering collapsed due to heavy rainfall in Dakshina Kannada district, damaging three parked cars. No casualties were reported in the incident.
Three cars were damaged as a compound wall of the Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE) college at Moodbidri talk near Mangaluru in Dakshina Kannada district collapsed due to heavy rains.The admission process for new students was underway when the incident occurred. No casualties have been reported in the incident.
Heavy rains have been lashing Dakshina Kannada district for the past four days. Deputy Commissioner KV Rajendra has declared holidays for all Anganwadi Centres, schools and degree colleges in the district today.
Meanwhile, Uttara Kannada district has received the highest rainfall among all the districts in Karnataka. An orange alert has been issued in the district, and schools and colleges have been shut for a second day in a row. Several roads in Karwar have been waterlogged and trees have fallen due to the rains in a few places.
