According to a report published in The Times of India (TOI), the accused, a bus driver, sexually assaulted the girl multiple times when he was living together with her mother near Madukkarai.
The 17-year-old victim is a class 11 student. Her father passed away around 13 years ago.
When the mother was not at the home, he raped the girl repeatedly. He allegedly threatened to kill her if she revealed the incident to anyone.
The crime came to light when the girl developed stomach pain and was taken to a hospital for a check-up.
The doctor who examined the girl found that she was pregnant and passed the information to the Madukkarai police.
A case was registered against the bus driver under relevant sections.
