In an alleged case of child marriage, a Class 11 student was forced to marry a man in Tamil Nadu's Trichy district. The matter came to light when the minor became four months pregnant.
At least four people have been booked after a complaint was filed by Mohan, Child Welfare Committee officer, Trichy.
The accused have been identified as Josphine Philomine, Dharmaraj, Mahesh, wife of Dharmaraj, and Sanjeeviraj, son of Dharmaraj who married the young girl.
As per the complaint, the victim was a student of Class 11 at a government school in Ammapettai and was married to Sanjeeviraj without her consent.
Based on his complaint, a case has been registered at Thiruverumbur all women police station under sections of 5 (I), 5 (j),(ii), 6, 16, 17 of the POCSO Act and 9, 10 of the Child marriage act.
Meanwhile, the victim has been sent to Sontham home in Trichy.
