CJI-led Supreme Court bench to hear Lakhimpur Kheri violence case today

The Supreme Court will hear the Lakhimpur Kheri matter on Thursday after the court took suo motu cognizance of the violence that claimed the lives of eight people earlier this week.
The Supreme Court is set to hear the Lakhimpur Kheri case in which eight people were killed in the violence that marred the Uttar Pradesh district on Sunday. A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana will hear the matter on Thursday.
The case pertains to the death of eight people in the violence that erupted during a farmers' protest in the Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh on October 3. A journalist, two BJP workers and a driver were among those who died in the violence.
