
Citizens without mask: BMC collects nearly Rs 50 crore in fines from citizens

Mumbai’s civic body, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, has collected almost Rs 50 crore in fines from people who were found without masks in public places.
The BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) has collected nearly Rs 50 crore in fines from citizens for not wearing masks in public places since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
