At the heart of Breadway’s festive indulgence is the quintessential plum cake, a traditional Christmas favourite that is moist, rich, and bursting with the warmth of spices. But that is not all — this year, the bakery has introduced a range of new offerings for the season. First up is the panettone, a classic Italian Christmas bread made with sourdough giving it its signature texture. “It’s more a bread than a cake. The traditional method of making panettone involves a lengthy and meticulous process, including multiple stages of rising,” says V K Sharat of Breadway. Some of the best Italian panettones emerge after a process that takes at least 36 hours. In its best form, panettone blends the moistness of a cake with the texture of bread with a slightly crusty outside and a soft inside. “We have tried to make an Indian version of this Christmas classic with locally sourced ingredients,” adds Sharat.
Some of Breadway’s other festive offerings include the hazelnut brilliance, a rich, nutty cake with a deep hazelnut flavour; strawberry sin, a decadent delight combining tanginess of strawberries and creamy macadamia nut base; golden swan, delicate layers of flaky pastry and creamy filling; and decorated doughnuts.
The seasonal specials are available at Breadway’s Ramnagar and Muralinagar branches.
Sirisha Challa’s bakery, Bake My Wish, is buzzing with the warmth of festive cheer and the aroma of freshly-baked delights. At the heart of this year’s offerings is the cheesecake with seasonal strawberries, a velvety creation topped with sweet-tart berries that capture the essence of winter. For chocolate lovers, Sirisha has crafted a decadent Belgian chocolate cake with strawberry compote and fresh strawberries, a balance of richness and fruity freshness.
One of the bakery’s bestsellers, bento cakes, continues to win hearts. These small, elegant cakes fly off the shelves like hotcakes. Adding to the festive line-up are the delightful pound cakes, including flavours like marble, orange, and banana. For those who enjoy traditional holiday treats, Sirisha’s Christmas cookies decorated with festive motifs are a must-try. Of course, no Christmas menu is complete without the classic plum cake, and Sirisha’s version is a star. Available in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions, the plum cakes are infused with spiced fruits and nuts, catering to varied preferences.
Bhavika Nahata of Dark Love has curated a collection that captures the spirit of Christmas in every bite. The macaron wreath comes in bright holiday hues, arranged to resemble a Christmas wreath. With flavours that range from red velvet cream cheese and biscoff to hazelnut nutella, it’s both a visual and gastronomic treat.
Bhavika’s DIY Christmas cookies kit invites families to bond over a fun and creative activity. The kit includes pre-baked cookies shaped like Christmas motifs of stockings, trees and snowmen along with frosting cones and sprinkles for decoration.
