AICC Maharashtra in-charge schedules meeting for party members in Nagpur to review poor election performance.
The All India Congress Committee’s (AICC) Maharashtra in-charge, Ramesh Chennithala, has scheduled a meeting of the party’s newly-elected MLAs, MLCs, and Assembly election candidates, in Nagpur, on Wednesday (December 17, 2024).
According to a statement from the party, the legislature party meeting will commence at 11 a.m., followed by an interaction at 1 p.m. Both sessions will be held at the Congress’ Nagpur district rural office. The meetings aim to review the party’s poor performance in the Assembly election of November 20, where it recorded its worst-ever results in Maharashtra.
The Congress won just 16 out of the 101 seats it contested. This comes in stark contrast with its performance in the Lok Sabha election earlier this year, where it secured 13 seats — the highest for any party in the State.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole has written to party president Mallikarjun Kharge, requesting to be relieved of his position.
