
Chennai witnesses 50% rise in Covid cases in a day

The city witnessed more than 200 cases three months ago. On December 19, the infection was growing at the rate of 0.06 percent in the city, and on Wednesday, the daily growth rate touched 1.7 percent.
Chennai on Wednesday reported 294 new Covid cases, more than double the number of cases it recorded more than a week ago.
The city recorded more than 194 new cases on Tuesday.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
