Chennai: Man arrested for selling fake Covid-19 negative certificates

According to police, the fake Covid-19 negative certificates were sent on WhatsApp after the payment was made on Google Pay.
Chennai police arrested a 30-year-old man for reportedly selling fake Covid-19 negative certificates to those in urgent need to travel abroad for Rs 500. The accused, identified as Irfan Khan, a resident of Triplicane, was picked up from a lodge and police have launched a massive manhunt to arrest his Dubai-based friend Praveen, who helped him prepare the fake certificates.
According to a report published in the Times of India (TOI), the fake Covid-19 negative certificates were sent on WhatsApp and the accused along with Praveen have issued around 70 certificates in the last four months. Police said the certificates were sent on WhatsApp after the payment of Rs 500 was made on Google Pay (GPay).
