
Chennai: Finance company owner with 6 cases pending against him hacked in broad daylight near Aminjikarai

Arumugam, who ran a finance company, was hacked to death in broad daylight in Chennai’s Aminjikarai area by four men on motorcycles. Police said he had six different cases pending against him and suspect he could’ve been killed by someone he had wronged.
A 36-year-old Chennai man, who had 6 different cases pending against him, was hacked to death by four unidentified men on Wednesday, May 18. The victim, identified as S Arumugam from Chetpet, ran a finance company.
Police said that Arumugam was murdered in Chennai’s Aminjikarai area when he was on the way to his office with another worker, Ramesh. Police added that Arumugam had six different cases pending against him, including murder, assault and harassing a woman.
“Arumugam was arrested years ago for sexually harassing a woman at knifepoint in front of her husband,” said a senior police officer. Police suspect that he could have been killed by someone he had wronged.
“Around 1.30 pm, four men on two bikes intercepted Arumugam near Pulla Avenue and hacked him with machetes even as vehicles were passing by,” said the police, adding, “The gang spared Ramesh, who later picked up the bike and escaped.”
Police rushed Arumugam to the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, but he died without responding to treatment, reported The New Indian Express.
Chennai Police have registered a case of murder and have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the suspect.

He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
