
Chennai: Budding film director stages abduction drama to extract Rs 30 lakh from family

A 24-year-old aspiring film director reportedly faked an abduction drama to extract Rs 30 from his family for his short film.
In a bizarre turn of events, a 24-year-old man, a budding film director by profession from Chennai, was reportedly arrested for staging his own abduction drama in a bid to grab Rs 30 lakh from his family for his short film. However, the youth was allowed to go with his parents after the police gave him a warning.
According to police, the youth faked his own kidnap drama to extort Rs 30 lakh from his father, who had earlier refused to give him funds for his short film. The matter came to light when Pensilayya, a resident of Chennai Ice House area, filed a complaint with the police saying that he had received a mysterious call that his son had been abducted.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
