
Chennai: Another electric scooter catches fire; third incident in a week

An electric scooter caught fire and emanated smoke in Chennai on Wednesday. No injuries were reported in the incident.
An electric bike caught fire on the road in Tamil Nadu's Chennai on Wednesday. This is the third such incident in a week.
Ganesh, a 21-year-old from Chennai was on his way to his office when he observed smoke emanating from his e-bike.
He immediately jumped off the bike and his vehicle caught fire. The commuters came to Ganesh’s help and they also stopped a tanker truck carrying water to extinguish the fire.
Unfortunately, the vehicle was charred to ashes in a few minutes.
In another incident, a father and daughter died due to a fire caused by an e-bike in the Vellore district.
On Monday, a father-daughter duo was killed after an electric bike exploded while charging in Vellore.
In another incident, the news of an electric vehicle catching fire was reported from Manapparai, Trichy. Such incidents have caused panic among e-bike users.
