CH01CH series e-auction: '0001' fetches second-highest bid Rs 24 lakh in Chandigarh

The vehicle registration number '0001' in the new CH01CH series fetched the second-highest bidding price of Rs 24.4 lakh during an e-auction in Chandigarh.

In an e-auction of fancy numbers conducted by the Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA) in Chandigarh, the vehicle registration number '0001' in the new CH01CH series fetched the second-highest bidding price of Rs 24.40 lakhs. The reserve price was Rs 50,000 and was secured by Aman Sharma.

This is the second-highest bid ever earned since 2012 in the history of RLA. The same number in the CH01-AP series got its highest ever bid for a whopping of Rs 26.05 lakhs in 2012.

Another fancy number 'CHO1CH-0101' received the second-highest bidding in the latest auction, at Rs 7.3 lakhs, which was followed by 'CHO1CH-0009', which was auctioned for Rs 6.6 lakhs. Meanwhile, 0005 sold for Rs 5.8 lakh and 0003 for Rs 5.5 lakh, reported the Hindustan Times (HT).

As per the reports, as many as 503 fancy numbers of the series were auctioned between January 22 and January 24, fetching RLA Rs 2.31 crore.

An official was quoted by the Tribune as saying, "During the e-auction of vehicle registration numbers (fancy and choice) of the new series CH01-CH from 0001 to 9999, a total of 503 registration numbers were auctioned."

A report published in the Tribune revealed that the RLA earned a massive revenue of more than Rs 2.31 crore from the e-auction. The report stated that the city organised an e-auction of special registration numbers of the new series, CH01CH along with the re-auction of previous fancy numbers from previous series.

The RLA had earned a total income of Rs 1.43 crores which was generated from the e-auction of fancy numbers of series CH01CG along with the re-auction of the leftover numbers of the previous series, the report said.
