He was speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed Siddharthanagar Traffic Police Station building in Mysuru, built jointly by the Karnataka State Police Department and the Karnataka State Police Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited.

Stating that Mysuru is renowned for its heritage and history, the Home Minister stressed the need to further strengthen law and order to encourage increased tourist footfall. “Every police station should be treated like a temple, and police personnel must serve the public in a people-friendly manner,” he said.

He noted that the door-to-door police visit programme has been successful across the country, with Karnataka securing third place. Citing a report, he said Bengaluru has ranked first among 120 cities in the country as the safest city.

Dr. Parameshwara also said that steps are being taken to bifurcate the Udayagiri Police Station, which caters to a population of over five lakh, to establish a new police station.

Presiding over the programme, T.S. Srivatsa, Krishnaraja MLA, said the jurisdiction of Lakshmipuram Police Station is extensive and therefore sought a traffic police station in the Kuvempunagar area, especially in view of the increasing number of tourists visiting the city.
