A team of CBI and forensic officials are expected to reach Goa tomorrow to look into the circumstances that led to the death of the politician, sources told India Today TV.
The Central Bureau of Investigation has taken over the investigation into the death of BJP leader Sonali Phogat from the Goa Police, sources told India Today TV. The CBI has registered a murder case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
A team of CBI and forensic officials are expected to reach Goa tomorrow to look into the circumstances that led to the death of the politician, the sources added. They are expected to visit the scene of the crime as well.
Officers of the federal probe agency will take over all the relevant documents from the local police before beginning their probe.
The special crime unit of the CBI, which will conduct the probe, will focus on whether her murder was pre-planned, the motive behind this, whether her aides - Sudhir and Sukhwinder - are alone responsible for the murder, whether she was overdosed, who the supplier of drugs were and whether usurping her property had anything to do with her death.

The special unit will also speak to the Goa Police officers who had collected documents of Phogat’s properties from Hissar in Haryana.
Sonali Phogat was declared dead on arrival by doctors at a Goa hospital on August 23. Initially, this was being treated as a case of accidental death due to a heart attack, but multiple 'blunt injuries' in the autopsy forced the police to lodge a murder case.
