Family narrowly escapes car fire on Sattur-Kovilpatti highway, firemen extinguish flames before car is destroyed.
Four of a family travelling in a car had a providential escape when the car caught fire on Sattur-Kovilpatti highway near here on Sunday.
Firemen from Sattur fire Station rushed to the spot and put out the flames. According to sources, the family members of Ranjith Kumar, 28, of Sivakasi were proceeding towards Thoothukudi district on Sunday late afternoon.
When the car was proceeding near Pethureddipatti junction, Ranjith Kumar, who was behind the wheel, found smoke coming out of the car. He stopped the vehicle off the road at once and his family members, including his children, hurriedly came out of the car.
Within few minutes, the car was up in flames. Though firemen, led by Station Officer V. Murugan, put out the flames, the car was destroyed.
