43-year-old man escapes unharmed after car catches fire near Vaniyambadi town, police suspect electrical short circuit.
A 43-year-old man escaped unhurt after the car he was travelling in caught fire near Vaniyambadi town in Tirupattur on Alangayam Main Road on Sunday.
The police said that as part of his business work, G. Kandan, a native of Tirupattur, was travelling to Bengaluru when he noticed smoke from the bonnet of the vehicle. Immediately, he got down from the car. The incident happened around 4 p.m.
Before firefighters from Vaniyambadi doused the fire, the car got completely gutted. Mr. Kandan was sent to Government Taluk Hospital for medical check-up. Police removed the charred vehicle from the carriageway to resume traffic movement on the stretch. Police said an electrical short circuit might be the reason for the accident. A case was registered by Alangayam police. A probe is under way.
