Calcutta HC turns down Bengal police's plea, orders immediate release of Suvendu Adhikari's aide

Ordering the immediate release of Suvendu Adhikari's aide Rakhal Bera, the Calcutta HC on Wednesday turned down the West Bengal Police's plea challenging his bail.

The Calcutta High Court has ordered the immediate release of Rakhal Bera, a close associate of West Bengal Leader of Opposition (LoP) Suvendu Adhikari. Bera was arrested in June of this year on charges of fraud. A single-judge bench of the HC had on Monday granted bail to Rakhal Bera and ordered his immediate release from custody. The bench had also clarified that no FIR can be registered against him without the court's permission.
