Budget ‘unfair’ to Chamarajanagar farmers: MP
The Hindu
Congress MP Sunil Bose criticizes the Union Budget for neglecting Chamarajanagar farmers and failing to support vital infrastructure projects.
Sunil Bose, Congress MP for Chamarajanagar, has accused the Union Budget of delivering a major blow to the district’s farmers and common people, calling it a “grave betrayal”.
In a statement issued on February 1, he said the Centre has failed to provide a turmeric processing unit and a proper marketing system for the district’s turmeric crop. He also criticised the government for disregarding the long-standing demand to include Chamarajanagar district under the Turmeric Board’s purview.
Expressing disappointment over lack of support for infrastructure development, Mr. Bose condemned the failure to sanction 100% funding for the Chamarajanagar–Hejjala railway project and the rejection of proposals to upgrade the Chamarajanagar–Gundlupet and Mysuru–H.D. Kote highways.
The MP further alleged that the Budget reflects the Centre’s indifference towards oppressed sections of society. “The Budget has failed to provide adequate funding for education and healthcare, instead favouring the affluent,” he said, and accused Union Ministers from Karnataka of failing to secure the state’s due justice.
Mr. Bose said that overall, the Budget is “anti-poor” and will hinder development.
