The Budget session of Parliament is all set to begin on Monday. Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Economic Survey 2021-22 on Monday and the Union Budget on Tuesday.
The Budget session of Parliament is all set to begin on Monday. The session will start with President Ram Nath Kovind's address to a joint sitting of both houses. Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Economic Survey 2021-22 on Monday and the Union Budget on Tuesday.
The first part of the Budget session will be held from January 31 to February 11. After this, it will go into a recess to examine the budgetary allocations for different departments.
The session will resume on March 14 and conclude on April 8. The first part of the session will have 10 sittings while the second part will have 19.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will have separate timings. During session, members will be seated in both houses to ensure social distancing. While the upper house will be in session from 10 am to 3 pm, the lower house will sit from 4 pm to 9 pm.
Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi and Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu will chair separate meetings with floor leaders of political parties on Monday to ensure smooth functioning of the Houses during the session.
During the Budget session, Opposition parties are likely to raise the Pegasus spyware issue, problems faced by farmers and the border row with China.
Earlier this week, the New York Times claimed in a report that India purchased Pegasus spyware as part of a defence deal with Israel in 2017. The Opposition parties are planning to raise this in Parliament.
