In light of the ongoing crisis in the BSP, the party is facing a major cadre crisis ahead of the crucial 2022 assembly election in Uttar Pradesh. Mayawati has not been much active in UP politics for some time, which experts say is one of the reasons that resulted in the switch-over of MLAs. In the past as well, many lesser-known leaders who had a difficult time winning poll established a place for themselves after leaving the party at the right time. These include Apna Dal founder Sonelal Patel, Dara Singh Chouhan, Swami Prasad Maurya, Brijesh Pathak. On the recent developments, BJP spokesperson Hero Bajpai said the BSP has lost its cadre and added that several MLAs will join other parties before the 2022 election.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
