In a tweet in Kannada on Friday, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said the work on Mekedatu dam will start soon after the National Green Tribunal greenlighted the project. However, Stalin called out his Karnataka counterpart over his unilateral decision on Mekedatu dam project.

In a tweet in Kannada on Friday, Yediyurappa said the work on the dam will start soon after the National Green Tribunal greenlighted the project. He said the project is for the supply of drinking water to Bengaluru and the water will not be diverted for irrigation purposes.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
