This comes after reports emerged that China was building a second bridge across Pangong Tso in eastern Ladakh. The new road will provide an alternative for the Indian forces to reach the Depsang plains and move to the Chinese front.
Government sources told India Today that the road would pass through Saser Pass in Ladakh and connect the two valleys. The work has gained pace as it is the working season and construction activity has increased in the area.
