Bring petrol and diesel under the ambit of GST: CTI appeals to Centre

The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) appealed to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to bring petroleum products under the purview of GST, saying that it could make petrol cheaper by Rs 20.

The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI), an association of traders, appealed to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to bring petroleum products under the GST regime.

The CTI cited that for the last few months at many places in the country, including Delhi, rates of petrol and diesel had crossed Rs 100 and Rs 90 respectively. During an important GST Council meeting on Friday, discussions can be held on bringing petrol and diesel under the ambit of GST.
