Bottles were hurled at the AIADMK coordinator Panneerselvam during the general council meeting. A faction led by Panneerselvam has been opposed to the idea of a single leadership for the party.
Chaos erupted at the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general council meeting on Thursday when some workers hurled water bottles at senior leader O Panneerselvam (OPS).
The video of the incident showed bottles being thrown at OPS when he was about to leave the dais. It almost fell on his Personal Security Officer who extended his arms around the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to protect him.

Amid chaos, the general council rejected all 23 proposed resolutions and claimed one issue - to bring back a system of single leadership for the party - needs to be resolved first.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
