
Book on marathons organised in Karunanidhi’s memory released

Guinness Kalaignar book release at Chennai Book Fair by Health Minister Subramanian, with notable guests and achievements.
The book Guinness Kalaignar, written by Health Minister Ma. Subramanian, was released by Water Resources Minister and DMK general secretary Duraimurugan on Saturday at the 48th Chennai Book Fair held on the YMCA grounds in Nandanam.
While former Director-General of Police (DGP) C. Sylendra Babu received the Tamil version’s first copy, world chess champion D. Gukesh received that of the English version.
Felicitating Mr. Subramanian for the book’s release, N. Ram, Director, The Hindu Group Publishing Private Limited, recalled the Minister’s contribution in organising the Kalaignar Memorial International Marathon and creating a Guinness Record with the participation of over 73,000 participants last year.
Mr. Subramanian said his book detailed the marathon events he organised in the memory of late Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, and was also a handbook of the late DMK leader’s life history.

Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat has rolled out digital mode of water bill generation and collection in 23 gram panchayats on a pilot basis for the first time in Karnataka. This is set to be extended to the remaining 200 panchayats shortly, according to the Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Narwade Vinayak Karbhari.
