
Bombay HC pulls up trial judge for using slang, disrespectful words to women in rape case

The Bombay High Court pulled up an Additional Sessions Judge and expressed its displeasure at the choice of words used by him while recording the testimony of the victim in a rape case.
The Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court on Thursday expressed "strong displeasure" at the choice of words used by Additional Sessions Judge SV Ranpise while recording the testimony of a rape victim and later in the judgment copy as well. The division bench of Justices Ravindra V Ghuge and Justice B U Debadwar was hearing a plea filed by the state government against the acquittal of a 45-year-old man from Ahmednagar. The bench said, "The trial court has used the words ‘F*****’ and “F******”. These words are used in slang language, are treated to be foul words, and are utterly disrespectful to women."
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
