
BMC gives nod for setting up Mumbai Parking Authority

The Mumbai civic body's standing committee has approved the formation of the Mumbai Parking Authority (MPA) to provide convenient, safe, and affordable parking facilities in the city, which is experiencing a space crunch.
The standing committee of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) approved the formation of the Mumbai Parking Authority (MPA), an apex independent body to regulate on-street and off-street parking. According to a release issued by the BMC on Sunday, the Mumbai Parking Authority (MPA) was envisioned in the Development Control and Promotion Regulation-2034 to regulate parking in Mumbai's space-constrained environment. “In Mumbai, the problem of parking is getting worse day by day. To solve this problem, it is necessary to provide convenient, safe and affordable parking lots in public places properly,” the release said.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
