Blackmailed and raped, Gujarat woman faints and survives after failed suicide attempt

After being blackmailed and physically abused by a gym trainer, a woman in Gujarat was on the verge of committing suicide. When she arrived at the location, she fainted and was thus saved.
After being blackmailed and physically abused by a gym trainer, a 31-year-old woman in Gujarat was about to commit suicide by jumping from the Sabarmati Riverfront when she fainted. The woman passed out after looking at the river and contemplating jumping into it. An auto rickshaw driver and a bystander alerted her family.
The woman has now filed an FIR against the gym trainer, who is being held at Ahmedabad's Sarkhej police station.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) SD Patel, the woman met the accused, Nasru Khan Taj Khan Pathan (36), six months ago. The accused works as a gym trainer and also helps his brother in the construction business.
After getting to know each other through social media, the woman and the accused decided to meet at Datar Dargah. They had also exchanged phone numbers, said ACP Patel.
While the duo had a mutual relationship, the accused had recently started demanding money from the woman and physically abused her. He also blackmailed the woman by threatening to inform her family, he added.
The accused even went to the woman's house without her permission and threatened her.
The woman, who was distraught and harassed, decided to flee her home and commit suicide. She took a taxi to the Sabarmati Riverfront and fainted right on the edge. The auto rickshaw driver who refused to leave the location immediately dialled her family and her husband arrived to pick her up, the ACP said.
