
BJP mounts pressure on TMC after drug haul in Kolkata port

The BJP claimed that an owner of a firm allegedly involved in a drug trade has links to the TMC. Recently, 40 kg of heroin worth Rs 200 crore was seized from a container in Kolkata port.
The BJP on Thursday alleged that the drug haul in Kolkata airport is linked to the Trinamool Congress. The saffron party claimed that the owner of a firm, who was allegedly involved in the drug trade, has connections to the TMC.
Six days ago, Gujarat’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) in a joint operation with Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) had seized around 40 kg of heroin worth Rs 200 crore from a container loaded in Kolkata port.
Gujarat ATS & DRI Ahmedabad zonal unit seized 39.565 kg of heroin, worth Rs 197.825 cr, from Kolkata's Century Freight Station from a container that was lying there for 6-7 months. Out of 36 gearboxes, 12 had 72 packets of heroin hidden. DRI is further investigating the matter. pic.twitter.com/w4BPUbngZ0
The drug consignment reportedly arrived from Dubai and the BJP said that the consignee has links to Mamata Banerjee's party men.
