Sambalpur MLA and senior BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra was today announced as the new leader of the opposition in the Odisha Assembly.
Mishra was appointed as the opposition leader of Odisha Assembly replacing Pradipta Kumar Naik, who is under treatment at Medanta Hospital in New Delhi for post-Covid-19 related complications, informed Odisha BJP co-incharge Vijay Pal Singh at a presser here today.
Mishra was unanimously chosen as the Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly after his name was supported by all members of the BJP Legislative Party.
Talking to India Today, Mishra said, "We will work as constructive opposition. I will try to expose the state government’s whimsical governance style."
"I will also try my level best to meet the aspirations of the people of the State," Mishra added.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

India's original Dhurandhar, Ravindra Kaushik, rose from acting at college theatres, to infiltrating the Pakistan Army as a RAW Agent. He provided critical intelligence on Pakistani troop movements and the country's nuclear programme, but died a lonely death after his betrayal and subsequent capture by the ISI.
