BJP hits out at AAP govt after Delhi L-G approves CBI probe in DTC bus scam

The BJP welcomed Delhi L-G VK Saxena's decision to conduct a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities in the purchase of DTC buses. The party spokesperson hit out at CM Arvind Kejriwal and referred to him as a “synonym of corruption”.

After Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena gave a nod to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation into the purchase of 1000 low floor buses by the Delhi government, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lashed out at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and called him a “synonym of corruption”.

The request for a CBI probe was made by Naresh Kumar, the Chief Secretary, after he received a complaint in June. The complainant alleged irregularities in the appointment of the Delhi transport minister as chairman of the committee related to tendering and purchase of DTC buses. It also said the appointment of the Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) as the management consultant for the tender was done with the aim of facilitating irregularities in the purchase.

BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said the characteristic of the AAP is that it is steeped in corruption. “How can you claim to be hardcore honest? People have understood that you are a hardcore corrupt,” Bhatia said.

Meanwhile, Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta and BJP MLA Vijender Gupta welcomed the decision taken by the L-G. “This has exposed another corrupt face of the Aam Aadmi Party. AAP government issued tenders for the purchase of DTC buses for the public of Delhi and then violated the CBC guidelines”, said Adesh Gupta.
