BJP denies report on profiling of Kashmiri students in Karnataka, slams Omar Abdullah

Amid the ongoing Hijab row in Karnataka, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, shared a report, and said Kashmiri college students were being profiled in the state. The state government has denied the allegations.

Even as Karnataka witnesses a row about wearing hijab in colleges, now former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah quoted a report to allege that Kashmiri students were being profiled in the state. An allegation that the state government has denied.

Citing a news report, Omar Abdullah said details of Kashmiri students are being sought from the colleges in the state. He said, "What a shame that Kashmiri students are being singled out and profiled by the authorities in Karnataka as though they are foreign nationals."

Speaking to India Today TV, J&K BJP chief Ravinder Raina accused Omar Abdullah of indulging in rumour-mongering. He said the National Conference vice-president was spreading false information. He said the Karnataka government has already clarified and said no such profiling was being done in the state.

Meanwhile, echoing the National Conference, the PDP has said the BJP was trying to disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the country by dividing the people along religious lines.
