A BJP councillor in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) - Tista Biswas - died in a car accident on Wednesday. The BJP termed her sudden demise as a great loss to the party.
Tista Biswas, a BJP councillor in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), died in a car accident on Wednesday. Biswas was in the race to contest the Bhabanipur bypoll before the BJP decided to field Priyanka Tibrewal against West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.
In a statement on Wednesday, Bengal BJP said, "We are deeply saddened by the news of passing away of Smt Tista Biswas, BJP councillor, Ward 86, KMC."

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
