
'BJP capturing MLAs': Nitish Kumar reacts to 5 Manipur MLAs leaving party

Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar reacted to five MLAs merging with the BJP in Manipur and said the party at the Centre is capturing party leaders and breaking them away.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reacted to five Janata Dal (United) MLAs merging with the BJP in Manipur and said, “The BJP is capturing MLAs and breaking them away from parties.” Nitish Kumar further asked if the BJP’s action is constitutional.

Addressing the media on Saturday, the JD(U) leader said democracy is being destroyed in the country. He further said the Opposition will unify for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections so the country will see a different result in the polls.

Talking about the MLAs jumping parties in Manipur, he said all the six JD(U) leaders had met them and assured them they would remain in the party after he pulled out from the NDA alliance in Bihar to form a government with the JD(U) in the Mahagathbandhan.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
