BJP candidate in Erode gets just one vote in Tamil Nadu local body elections

Narendran, a candidate in the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Body Elections ended up having just a single vote. Narendran contested from Bhavanisagar town in Erode on a BJP ticket.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Narendran, who contested from ward 11 in Bhavanisagar of Erode, secured just a single vote.
When the counting of votes ended, Narendran found out that apart from him, nobody, including his friends, family and party workers voted for him.
Narendra was defeated by a DMK candidate who secured 84 out of the total 162 votes polled.
The election took place on February 19 for over 12,500 wards across 21 corporations, 138 municipalities, and 489 town panchayaths in Tamil Nadu.
According to the latest figures, DMK and its allies are leading in all 21 corporations with AIADMK in a distant second.
