BIM unveils its new Kalamavur campus with advanced facilities and eco-friendly technologies, welcoming 180 students in June.
Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM) will be launching its new campus in Kalamavur village on the Tiruchi-Pudukottai highway in April this year and inducting an expanded batch of 180 students in June.
The new campus is constructed on a 19-acre site that was acquired by the BIM (Tiruchi) Society in 2016. Construction began in 2024 and the first phase is estimated to have a budget outlay of ₹100 crore.
“The funds have been generated through our own resources, from alumni and industry support,” BIM director and member secretary Asit K. Barma told The Hindu.
Among the new features being added are a 500-seating capacity auditorium, modern classrooms, swimming pool, indoor sports complex, student hostels, and an amphitheatre.
The campus will be equipped with ‘Vayu-jal’ machines developed by Indian Institute of Technology-Madras that convert atmospheric moisture into potable water.
“We have installed air-conditioning in selected areas but are aiming to keep the campus naturally ventilated as far as possible,” said Mr. Barma. Plans are on to create a manmade lake at the site besides rainwater harvesting systems. Native trees on the site have been transplanted within the campus rather than be cut down, to preserve the natural landscape.
