
Bihar: Dead man wins Panchayat poll after villagers vote to ‘honour his last wish’

A man, who died on November 6, won a Panchayat poll after village residents voted for the deceased man to “honour his last wish” to win the election.
A dead man has won a Panchayat poll held on Wednesday riding on a “sympathy wave” generated by his own death.
The real-life tragicomedy was detected in this impoverished district, situated about 200 kms from the state capital, when officials were handing over certificates to candidates who won the polls held on November 24.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
