
Bhopal box murder case cracked: Dating app relationship ends in killing

Police said Sameer and Misbah became acquainted through an online dating application. Misbah had reportedly been living with Sameer in a live-in relationship at his Bhopal residence since October 2025. Officials said Sameer had introduced Misbah to his family as a friend. However, after Misbah started living in the house, Sameer's wife objected to it and left for her parental home in Jabalpur.
Police have cracked the sensational case of a young woman’s body found inside an iron trunk dumped in a septic tank in Bhopal’s Kamal Nagar within 24 hours. Investigations revealed that the woman was strangled to death on the night of February 7–8 and her body was later dumped into the septic tank.
Police have arrested the main accused, Sameer, along with his mother, sister and brother, for their alleged involvement in the crime.
The deceased has been identified as Misbah (22), a resident of Gondia district in Maharashtra. Based on technical evidence, local enquiries and informer inputs, police traced the accused to Kamal Nagar area. Sameer was detained and during questioning, he reportedly confessed to the murder.

According to police, tensions between Sameer and Misbah had been escalating for some time. Sameer allegedly wanted to end the relationship, while Misbah was pressuring him to marry her. Police said disputes over money, including Misbah allegedly demanding compensation to separate, also contributed to frequent arguments between them. On the night of February 7–8, the arguments intensified, following which Sameer strangled Misbah to death.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
