A Bengaluru-based data engineer has shared a detailed breakdown of her salary allocation, highlighting living expenses, investments, and major one-time purchases.
What does a Rs 3 lakh monthly salary actually look like after rent, EMIs and investments? A Bengaluru data engineer answered that question head-on, and the internet is listening.
In the Instagram video, she explained that a little over Rs 2 lakh of her income goes towards fixed expenses, investments and financial commitments each month.
“Here's how I spend my salary from my full time data engineering job in Bengaluru. Rent, groceries, EMIs, and bills, but no travel expenses because I go to the office in a cab and I have a scooty so maybe 500 a month for petrol,” she captioned the post.
Her rent stands at Rs 20,000, with another Rs 5,000 paid to a domestic helper. Since the rent covers electricity, water and internet, her total housing and utility expense remains capped at Rs 25,000 without fluctuating bills.
One of her biggest financial commitments is a Rs 30,000 monthly EMI for an apartment she bought for her parents. While she noted that real estate is not always considered a high-growth asset, she said the purchase was driven by gratitude and responsibility towards her family.
Her routine monthly expenses are relatively contained to Rs 8,000 on groceries, Rs 2,000 on dining out and about Rs 5,000 on skincare, wellness products, gifts and other personal needs.

If true, the deployment will give Britain the capability to launch strikes on Iran in case the regional conflict escalates drastically. Earlier, on Friday, the British government had authorised the US military to use military bases in Britain to carry out strikes on Iranian missile sites that are attacking ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
